We love this time of year when the fresh and densely sweet Rwanda coffee samples arrive at our roastery. This year, the coffee that immediately had our attention on the cupping table came from the Mutovu washing station, which is located in the of Nyamasheke region of western Rwanda.
The Mutovu coffee station was established in 2012. It is in an ideal area for growing coffee, with rich soils and with many small coffee farmers. It's also a central location for a coffee washing station. Mutovu Coffee is fairly small compared to many of the other coops and washing stations, with an estimated output this year of only 2 containers. We feel very fortunate to have been able to purchase a small amount of this coffee.
We absolutely love the sticky sweetness, complexity and roundness of this coffee and we know you will too. We taste note of vanilla caramel candies and subtle peach. We also taste cotton candy as the cup cools.
From our house to yours, we hope you enjoy every sip!
